Who makes up the modern working class?
10:00am Sat 19 Aprmelbourne
About this session
The working class has changed dramatically in the past half-century with a big jump in office workers and many fewer working in factories; many more with university degrees and many fewer leaving school at 16. But what do these changes mean for the power of the working class? Are they still the "gravediggers of capitalism", as Marx and Engels argued, or are they now too weak or too satisfied with their lot to make a difference? This talk explains why the working class still has the power to change society.
