Marx and the working class party

10:00am Fri 18 Apr
melbourne

About this session

The question of party organisation has been a central concern of Marxists for more than a century. This book club on "Marxism and the Party" by the British Marxist John Molyenux will explore the relationship between the revolutionary party and the working class, and the contributions made by Marxists to this question. We strongly encourage attendees to not only read the book but attend other sessions in the series.

In the "Marxism and the Party" Molyneux combats the idea that Karl Marx was simply an armchair theoretician and examines how Marx strove to build socialist working-class parties throughout his life. This talk will place Marx's activity and writings on the question of party building and assess the strengths and weaknesses of his approach.
