For almost 200 years Latin America has been the imperial backyard of the United States, and right-wing forces in the region have had a long association with US imperialism. Now the last five years have seen the rise of a series of right-wing pro-American governments throughout Latin America. This talk will address the history of right-wing coup’s and dictatorships in Latin America, the role of US imperialism in the region, and the rise of new right-wing governments like that of Bolsonaro in Brazil.
