The state of world agriculture is dire. Agricultural yields are already decreasing in some parts of the world, and will continue to worsen on a warming planet. But ironically, the way we produce food is a key driver of its own demise. Today’s agricultural industry is a heavyweight in greenhouse gas emissions and environmental destruction, while also leaving millions to starve to death each year.
How did such a simple process of growing food, evolve into an industry that is so destructive? This talk will aim to answer this question, as well as grapple with current debates around how we achieve sustainable food production that can feed the world.
